It is with sadness that I write this blog message. I had just donated blood and was feeling awful, when I went up to my office and turned on the Internet. The news bulletin flashed across the screen at MSNBC that Michael was found unconscious at his home and wasn't breathing. When I made it downstairs to tell my best friend, another friend called to tell me that Michael had died. Of course I didn't want to believe it, and on the way home I waited to hear a news report on the radio, but none came on. By the time I made it in the door and ran through the house to turn on the television, my biggest fear was confirmed...Michael Jackson had died.
At this very minute I am watching a news report on Fox News and waiting for the family to give an announcement, but a spokesman for the LAPD is speaking, but not confirming anything.
I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five. I remember watching him on Ed Sullivan, and his picture hung on my walls until I was old enough to leave my mother's home. Just recently I brought a collection of Jackson Five songs and played them whenever I was doing housework. I had ever album the Jackson Five made, but Hurricane Katrina took them from me. I will always remember him being one of the finest entertainers in the world and will miss him. Although I did not know him personally, his brother Marlon married Carole Parker, the sister of my friend Melvin from New Orleans, and I will always feel that I am a part of the Jackson family because I have been a fan from the beginning.
Sleep now Michael. Your work is done.
Sadly signing off,
